Advanced Training Programs
Explore and sharpen your FI work with children. Recognize a child’s place on the developmental spectrum. Learn how to improve head control, crawling, creeping, and other functions. Relate child development to the underpinnings of mature function.Determine which movement patterns are relevant next steps.Transition from working with adults to working with children.

The Field Center is excited to offer three different formats of advanced trainings at our New York City location. These trainings are designed to refine skills in working with the developing child.  The Functional Integration strategies considered in the seminars will be relevant for people of all ages needing to improve basic functioning. Curriculum will be helpful to practitioners regardless of their experiences working with children.

1. Advanced Training Weekends. Each three-day weekend will have a different focus relating to child development . Both weekend trainings offered in 2007-2008 are designed to build on each other. Attendance at both is encouraged, but not mandatory.

2. Ongoing Seminar Series. Six meetings offer practitioners the opportunity to regularly deepen understanding and add new perspective to their work. Series will also include opportunity to observe and discuss lessons Sheryl gives children. Participants may arrange to bring students from their own practice for a FI with follow-up discourse. These seminars count towards continuing education requirements. For those interested in interning at the Field Center, participation in this Seminar Series is required.

3. Internship. Select practitioners from the Seminar Series may contract with the Field Center for hands-on, supervised FI work in our training clinic. Specific arrangements will be made on an individual basis.

March 2008 Advanced Training Weekend: Orienting to Development
We would like to invite you to join us, March 7th-9th, for Orienting to Development, an Advanced Training with Sheryl Field.

During this three-day weekend we will focus on more fully referencing ATM lessons sensorily to gain more potent understanding of the developmental underpinnings of intentional action and skill. We will move beyond familiarity towards a deeper appreciation of functional organizations.

Practitioners can benefit regardless of their experience working with children, and 3rd and 4th year trainees are welcome.

Sheryl studied extensively with Moshe Feldenkrais, and has been working with children with motor difficulties for over 20 years. Her Advanced Trainings are an extraordinary opportunity to learn from her deep experience, and to orient more accurately to developmental processes.

ATM® Touchstones
The Touchstones Series was begun to offer an opportunity to explore key "touchstone" ATM lessons in depth. These lessons are chosen for their developmental significance, and each month is devoted to rigorously exploring just one of these lessons. This means doing the lesson together three times, highlighting different aspects each week. In addition you are encouraged to do the lesson on your own, teach it yourself, work with it in FI, and otherwise make it your own, so that it is readily available to you in your understanding and practice. Our discussions afterwards are great opportunities to sort out questions that arise and resource each other in delving into our practice.

Devoting a month to each of these touchstone lessons lets us move beyond familiarity towards a deeper appreciation of these functional organizations, allowing us to more fully reference them sensorily, and understand the developmental underpinnings of action.

It is a great opportunity to continue to develop your work. We encourage you to join us, and look forward to seeing you there!

Touchstones meets 3 Mondays a month, from 7:30- 9:30pm.
